This is Total Net NH's Shopping page. Shopping over the Internet is becoming more and more popular... however, please read the warning before EVER giving out you credit card number, or any other information where someone can access your money using the information you give.

Shopping Warning

In today's day and age, people can now buy information, tools, gadgets, or anything else off the Internet using a piece of plastic (otherwise known as a Credit Card). This is a very powerful way of buying stuff, because you can compare various Internet shopping malls right off the Internet, and then just order from the best place you find using your credit card! However, and unfortunately with any technology, there are those out there who will try to mess up a great thing. Let me briefly explain the danger of online shopping.

When you give information on the Internet to a web site (Like your name, address, credit card number, etc), it is transferred across the Internet using several computers on the Internet called routers. This is a good thing, but can be used badly also. People who break into computers (Called Crackers) can watch the information being transferred though these routers and steal the information (Like the items listed before: name, address, credit card number, etc). But don't worry!! Because as always, the Internet community saw a problem and fixed it!

This was the beginning of SSL (Secure Socket Layer), or in simpler terms, an encryption process the encodes everything that you send to a remote site and that site then decodes it to something it can read making it so that all the "middle men" couldn't read it. So why are we telling you all this if it is not a problem? Well, you have to make sure that you are at a site that supports SSL (Otherwise known as a Secured Web Page) in order for it to be safe to submit personal information (Such as a credit card). You can tell that you are at one because usually, a screen will come up and tell you, and if that doesn't happen you will notice a new icon at the bottom of your browser screen which either looks like a lock or a key.
