Q	Check dial tone with Terminal window.
A	In Windows, go to your Accessories Group, and double click on the program titled "Terminal". A blank window will open up. Type "ATZ" and then hit enter. If you hear a dial tone, then your modem is working properly. If you hear nothing, than you might have your modem on the wrong COM port, or you might need to reinstall it.
