Q

How do I create a Desktop Icon to connect?

A

The reason you probably are having to do this is because at one time you were online and your computer froze up causing you you to have to reboot the "Hard" way. This causes a bug in Windows 95 to show its face. When this happens, you lose the ability to automatically connect whenever you try to connect to the Internet. The good news however, is that there is an easy way to get around it... Here is how it is done:

  1. Close all open programs on your computer so that you are at your desktop (The screen that first comes up when the computer starts and contains "My Computer")
  2. Double-click on "My Computer"

  3. Now double-click on Dial-Up Networking

  4. In the list in the new window, there would be an entry titled: "Total Net NH" or something close to that. Right-Click on this icon (Meaning use your right mouse button and click on the icon) and choose from the menu: "Create Shortcut".

  5. You will now get an error like the following:

    Just Choose Yes

  6. From now on what you will need to do to connect to the Internet is First, Double-click on the icon you just created on your desktop titled: "Shortcut To Total Net NH", type in your username and password (If not already entered) and choose connect. Then just double click on the icon that you would usually double click on to connect (Example: "The Internet").

Click on your browser's "BACK" button to return
